The Weekend Lineup

July 10–12in & around the Wisconsin Northwoods

This is Hodag weekend, and the whole Northwoods knows it. The Hodag Country Music Festival takes over Rhinelander from Thursday through Sunday with Brothers Osborne, Old Dominion, and Nate Smith headlining -- the region's biggest weekend of the year. Around it: Grammy-nominated bluegrass at the Campanile Center, a new Iron Hodag sculpture unveiled downtown, and the ski team back on the water Sunday. The weather's cooperating for once -- mostly sunny and low-to-mid 80s with just a stray Saturday storm, about as good as festival weather gets. Here's the weekend.

The big one. Four days of national country on the Hodag grounds, headlined by Brothers Osborne, Old Dominion, and Nate Smith, running Thursday through Sunday. It's the single biggest annual event in the Northwoods and it pulls from all over the region, so plan your camping, your rides, and your Saturday around it.

Close the weekend on the water: the Hodag Water Ski Show Team runs its free Sunday-evening show at Hodag Park -- pyramids, jumps, and the kind of small-town spectacle that's pure Northwoods summer. Bring a chair and get there a little early for a good spot on the shore.

That's the weekend.
