The Lineup ("we," "us," or "our") operates local lifestyle websites and the Lineup mobile app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.
By using our websites or app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
What Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Newsletter signup: Your email address (and optionally your name) when you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Event submissions: Your name, email address, and event details when you submit an event through our submission form.
- Business listing claims: Your name, email address, business name, and related business information when you claim or submit a directory listing.
- Contact messages: Your name, email address, and any information you include when you email us directly.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics data: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect information about how you use our sites, including pages visited, time spent, referring URLs, browser type, device type, and general geographic location. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
- Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies to support analytics and, when enabled, advertising. See the Cookies section below for details.
- Server logs: Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically collects standard server log data, including IP addresses, browser type, and pages requested.
Information collected through our mobile app
- Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address and display name in our database (Supabase).
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your device's approximate location to show distances to nearby events and places. Your location is cached on your device for up to 15 minutes and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings.
- Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications, we store a device token on our server to deliver notifications. This token is deleted when you sign out or disable notifications. Tokens are managed through the Expo push notification service.
- Local device storage: We store your preferences (selected areas, interests, saved items) locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you are signed in, in which case preferences may sync to your account.
How We Use Your Information
- Newsletter delivery: To send you our email newsletter and occasional updates about local events and content.
- Event publishing: To review, edit, and publish event submissions on our calendar.
- Directory accuracy: To verify and update business listings in our directory.
- Analytics: To understand how visitors use our sites so we can improve content and user experience.
- Advertising: To display relevant ads and measure ad performance.
- Communication: To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Cookies
We use cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and advertising (Google AdSense). You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can opt out of Google's personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
Data Retention
- Newsletter subscribers: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
- Event submissions: Retained as long as the event listing is published, plus a reasonable archival period.
- Business listings: Retained until removed or deletion is requested.
- Analytics data: Retained per GA4 settings (currently 14 months).
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account. Personal data is permanently removed within 30 days of deletion.
- Location data: Cached on device only, expires after 15 minutes. Never stored on our servers.
- Push notification tokens: Deleted immediately on sign-out or account deletion.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information. You can delete your account directly from the mobile app (More > Delete Account) or by contacting us.
- Opt-out of marketing: Unsubscribe from newsletters at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Opt-out of cookies: Adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies.

California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA: the right to know what data we collect, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of sale. We do not sell your personal information. To submit a CCPA request, email [email protected] with the subject "CCPA Request."
European Residents (GDPR)
EEA residents have additional rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and withdrawal of consent. Our legal bases for processing include consent, contract performance, and legitimate interests.
Children's Privacy
The Lineup is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Contact us at [email protected] if you believe we have.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
