Privacy Policy
This document is provided for informational purposes. Consult a qualified attorney for legal advice specific to your situation.
The Lineup ("the Lineup," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website getthelineup.com and the The Lineup mobile app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.
By using our website or app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
What Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Newsletter signup: Your email address (and optionally your name) when you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Event submissions: Your name, email address, and event details when you submit an event through our submission form.
- Business listing claims: Your name, email address, business name, and related business information when you claim or submit a directory listing.
- Contact messages: Your name, email address, and any information you include when you email us directly.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics data: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect information about how you use our site, including pages visited, time spent, referring URLs, browser type, device type, and general geographic location. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
- Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies to support analytics and, when enabled, advertising. See the Cookies section below for details.
- Server logs: Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically collects standard server log data, including IP addresses, browser type, and pages requested.
Information collected through our mobile app
- Account information: The app works without a login. When you subscribe to the Weekend Lineup newsletter in the app, we collect your email address (see "Newsletter signup" above). If we offer optional account sign-in, we also store the email address and display name you provide.
- Location data: With your permission, the app reads your device's location to show distances to nearby events and places and to suggest the closest local area. Your location is used on your device only — it is held in the app's memory while you use it and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. You can revoke location access at any time through your device settings.
- Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications, we store a push token and a device identifier (your device's vendor ID) on our server so we can deliver notifications to your device. These are used only to send notifications and are deleted when you disable notifications or delete your data. Tokens are delivered through the Expo push notification service.
- Local device storage: We store your preferences (selected areas, interests, saved items) locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you are signed in, in which case preferences may sync to your account.
How We Use Your Information
- Newsletter delivery: To send you our email newsletter and occasional updates about local events and content.
- Event publishing: To review, edit, and publish event submissions on our calendar.
- Directory accuracy: To verify and update business listings in our directory.
- Analytics: To understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content and user experience.
- Advertising (website only): To display relevant ads and measure ad performance on our website. The mobile app shows no ads.
- Communication: To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
