[Fairhope](/areas/fairhope/) is the cultural heart of Baldwin County -- a walkable downtown on a bluff above Mobile Bay where you can browse a third-generation bookstore, eat well on Section Street, watch pelicans from a century-old pier, and close the night at a craft cocktail bar, all without moving your car. This guide builds a full day from morning coffee to last call.

## Start the Morning Right

[Fairhope](/areas/fairhope/) has more good coffee per block than almost anywhere in Baldwin County, so pick your style and go.

### [Kind Cafe Fairhope](/directory/kind-cafe-fairhope/) 108 North Section Street | kindcafe.community | $

A mission-based bagel shop that makes its bagels fresh every morning. They open at 6:30 AM on weekdays and 7:00 AM on weekends, and the line moves fast. A percentage of merchandise sales goes to a local nonprofit, so you can feel fine about a second bagel.

### [Provision](/directory/provision/) 100 North Section Street | provisionfairhope.com

Part modern general store, part cafe, part wine bar. Opens at 7:30 AM daily (closed Sunday) and serves specialty coffee alongside gourmet cheeses, charcuterie, and craft beer. If you're planning to linger over a laptop before the shops open, this is the better seat.

### [Latte Da](/directory/latte-da/) 32 South Section Street | pageandpalette.com/latte-da

The coffee shop inside [Page & Palette](/directory/page-palette/). Opens at 7:30 AM Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM Saturday, 9:30 AM Sunday. Locally sourced coffee, specialty drinks, baked goods, and ice cream. The bookstore itself opens at 10:00 AM, but Latte Da lets you warm up early. It's a good pairing -- grab your coffee, then browse.

### [Parlor Doughnuts](/directory/parlor-doughnuts-1/) 51 South Church Street | parlordoughnuts.com

Their Famous Layered Doughnuts are a cross between a doughnut and a croissant. They also do specialty coffee and vegan, gluten-friendly, and keto-friendly options. Opens at 7:00 AM every day.

## The Anchor of Downtown: Section Street

Section Street is the spine of downtown [Fairhope](/areas/fairhope/). The walkable stretch between [Panini Pete's](/directory/panini-petes/) and Tamara's covers most of what you need in a morning.

### [Page & Palette](/directory/page-palette/) 32 South Section Street | pageandpalette.com

A third-generation family-owned independent bookstore that's been a Fairhope landmark since 1968. The store also houses [Latte Da](/directory/latte-da/) and The Book Cellar event venue with live music. It's open seven days a week, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Don't rush it -- the selection earns time.

### [Panini Pete's](/directory/panini-petes/) 42 South Section Street | paninipetes.com | $$

New Orleans-style fare -- beignets, burgers, breakfast plates -- in a snug spot with outdoor seating. Opens at 8:00 AM every day, closes at 2:30 PM. Dog-friendly and consistently popular, especially on weekends. If you want beignets without the drive to New Orleans, this is where you go.

### [Tamara's Downtown](/directory/tamaras-downtown/) 104 North Section Street | tamarasdowntownfairhope.com | $$

Wings, burgers, and American chow in a historic downtown building with an artistically inspired interior. Serves brunch until 2:00 PM daily. Live music, a full bar, and patio seating. They don't take reservations. Open most days by 10:00 AM, closed Tuesdays.

### [The Historic Fairhope Clock](/directory/the-historic-fairhope-clock/) [Downtown Fairhope](/directory/downtown-fairhope/)

The clock is a downtown landmark worth a quick stop and photo. Family-friendly, free, and always there.

## Practical Tips for the Day

**Parking:** Downtown [Fairhope](/areas/fairhope/) is walkable once you're parked. Find a spot near the pier or on a side street off Section and leave the car.

**Days to avoid (or embrace):** The First Friday Art Walk draws a crowd to downtown galleries on the first Friday of each month. It's a better scene for gallery-hopping and meeting artists -- just expect company.

**Monday closings:** Several restaurants and galleries are closed Monday, including Pearl, Little Bird, the [Nall Art Foundation](/directory/nall-art-foundation/), the [Eastern Shore Art Center](/directory/eastern-shore-art-center/), and the [Fairhope Museum of History](/directory/fairhope-museum-of-history/). If Monday is your only day, plan around it.

**Hours change:** Always check current hours before you go. This is especially true for smaller galleries and boutiques.

**With kids:** [Fairhopers Community Park](/directory/fairhopers-community-park/), [Fantasy Island Toys](/directory/fantasy-island-toys/), [Storybook Castle](/directory/storybook-castle/), and the pier walk are all solid kid stops. [Lickin' Good Donuts](/directory/lickin-good-donuts/) at 110 Eastern Shore Shopping Center opens at 5:00 AM and sells out fast -- arrive early.

**Staying overnight:** The [Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection](/directory/grand-hotel-golf-resort-spa-autograph-collection/) on Scenic Highway 98 is the area's flagship resort with seven bars and restaurants, a lagoon pool, and a spa. For a smaller stay, check the [City of Fairhope](/directory/city-of-fairhope/)'s lodging page for B&B options.

If this guide has you thinking about more of the Eastern Shore, [A Day in Spanish Fort & Daphne](/articles/a-day-in-spanish-fort-daphne/) covers the next stretch up the bay. And if Fairhope's food scene left you wanting a broader view of what locals actually eat across the county, [Where Locals Actually Eat in Baldwin County](/articles/where-locals-eat-baldwin-county/) is the follow-up read.
