The Weekend Lineup

July 10–12in & around Coastal Alabama & Northwest Florida

The best stuff this weekend is a little east of the beach, in and around Pensacola. The CCB Belgian Beer Fest pours all weekend at Coastal County Brewing, the Tanabata Star Festival brings Japanese tradition, tea, and flowers to UWF on Saturday, and it all kicks off Thursday with Taylor Hunnicutt at Soul Kitchen. It's low 90s and sticky, with the rain odds climbing as the weekend goes -- Sunday looks the wettest, so Thursday through Saturday are your better bets to be outside. Here's the weekend.

Thursday

Thu 8 PM

The Alabama singer-songwriter brings her Southern-rock-and-soul sound to Soul Kitchen in Mobile. A real touring act in a proper music hall -- a good excuse to start the weekend on Thursday night.

Thu 6 to 9 PM

Family night at the Wharf -- a DJ spinning the beats, the Bubble Truck bringing the bubbles, plus camel rides, cornhole, face painting, and more, all free. Bring the kids and let them run; it's the easy Thursday-evening call for a crew of any age.

Fri

Friday

Fri 11 AM
Coastal County Brewing, Pensacola

Coastal County Brewing's third annual Belgian Beer Fest runs all weekend, a proper celebration of Belgian styles -- saisons, dubbels, tripels, the lot -- from one of Pensacola's favorite breweries. Go Friday to beat the crowd or make a Saturday of it; either way it's the weekend's most distinctive outing.

Sat

Saturday

Sat 12 PM
University of West Florida, Pensacola

Tanabata is Japan's "star festival," and UWF's version leans into the beautiful parts of it -- write a wish and tie it to a bamboo branch, sip tea, take in the flowers and traditions. Something genuinely different for a Gulf Coast Saturday, and a lovely one to bring the family to.

That's the weekend.
