Free Summer Concerts in Chattanooga: Nightfall and Riverfront Nights

Two nights a week, all summer, the live music in Chattanooga is free and outdoors. Between them, Nightfall and Riverfront Nights turn Friday and Saturday into a standing plan from late spring into early fall -- bring a chair, bring friends, and spend nothing on the music itself. Nightfall -- Fridays at Miller Plaza

The downtown institution. Nightfall runs Friday evenings at Miller Plaza in the center of downtown, free and open-air, and 2026 marks its 39th season -- early May through the end of July. Food and market vendors open around 6, the music starts at 7. Each season kicks off with "Road to Nightfall," a local-band competition whose winner earns a slot on the main stage. It's produced by the nonprofit Chattanooga Presents, it pulls a genuine downtown crowd, and the bill leans toward bands you can actually move to. Lineups are posted by season, so check the current week before you count on a specific act.

Riverfront Nights -- Saturdays at Ross's Landing

Riverfront Nights takes Saturday down to the water. Free, family- and pet-friendly, it runs at Ross's Landing from late May into early September -- concessions open around 6, music from 7 to 10. There are bars on site (no outside alcohol), plus a kids' sprinkler, cornhole, and room to spread out along the river. The programming runs to tribute acts and local favorites more than national headliners, which is the whole point: it's a low-key, bring-the-crew Saturday, not a ticketed show you plan your month around. Both are chair-and-blanket affairs, so come early for a good spot -- especially downtown on a Friday.
