How we decide what to cover
Editorial standards
The Lineup makes money from premium listings, sponsorships, and local ads. None of that buys editorial coverage. This is the line, and it's load-bearing.
Paying for a listing buys eligibility, not placement
A venue can claim and upgrade its listing — that gets it photos, an authored description, and a place in the running for "featured this week." It does not get it chosen. Editorial decides who's featured, every week, on the merits.
Sponsors don't affect coverage
Sponsorships are category-exclusive and clearly labeled as "Presented by." A sponsor is never written about, ranked, or recommended because they're a sponsor. If we cover a place that happens to advertise, we'd have covered it anyway.
We say so when something is an ad
Ads are labeled "Advertisement." Sponsored content is labeled "Presented by." Editorial picks carry the editor's mark. You should always be able to tell which is which at a glance.
