The signature summer Friday, and this is a big one: J. Roddy Walston -- the piano-pounding rock howler with deep Chattanooga roots -- headlines at 8, with the Matt Bohannon Band opening at 7. Free, outdoors, downtown.

The Broadway tour of the Robin Williams classic closes out the 2025-26 Broadway season -- and it runs all three nights, Friday and Saturday at 8 with a 7 PM closing performance Sunday. If the season's been on your list, this is the last call.

The men's World Cup is on home soil for the first time since 1994, and the USA opens Friday night against Paraguay. Two good rooms for it: the garden at The Read House and the official watch party at White Duck Taco Shop. Both start well before kickoff -- claim a table, then yell at a screen with strangers.

Living history on the actual battlefield: a costumed artillery program telling the story of Havis' Georgia Battery. The cannon demonstrations are the draw -- you feel them in your chest.

The zoo stays open late and hands out ice cream stop after stop, animals included (theirs is fruit). The rare event that works equally well for a six-year-old and a date.

Free live music on the lake out in Hixson -- camp chairs, coolers, sunset over Chickamauga Lake. The un-downtown way to spend Saturday night.

Bella Lam plays HiFi Clyde's on Saturday night -- a local voice in one of the Southside's most reliable rooms.

The Chattanooga Market leans into the longest days of the year with a solstice festival -- market vendors plus music, food, and festival programming under the pavilion roof. Sunday's centerpiece, and the covered setting means the afternoon sky isn't your problem.

Sunday is Flag Day, and it's also the U.S. Army's 250th birthday -- Hamilton County marks both with a community celebration at Collegedale Commons. Patriotic, free-range, family-scaled.

Kiki Yeung and Esther Ku close the Comedy Catch's loaded weekend with the Sweet and Sour Chicks showcase. A sharp way to land the weekend.
