The Weekend Lineup

July 31–August 2in & around the Chattanooga metro area

Nightfall plays its season finale free on Friday, the Margarita Festival takes over the Pavilion Saturday, and Frozen closes its run at the Theatre Centre. It's a last-call kind of weekend: Nightfall wraps the summer series Friday, the Chattanooga Margarita Festival pours ten samples Saturday, Jerry Fest runs a full day of Grateful Dead, and Frozen takes its final bow Sunday. Friday is the one clean day -- 90 and sunny -- before storms move in Saturday and Sunday, so front-load the outdoor stuff. Here's the weekend.

Fri

Friday

Fri 6 PM

The free downtown concert series takes its final bow of the season, now moved under cover at First Horizon Pavilion. Et Cetera opens at 7, MT Jones headlines at 8. Friday's the dry night of the weekend, so this is the one to catch outdoors before the storms roll in. Bring a chair and send the summer off right.

Fri 7:30 PM

Closing weekend for the Theatre Centre's Disney staging -- Friday night, twice Saturday, and a final Sunday matinee. Shows have been selling out, so book through the Theatre Centre directly. Last chance to catch this one with the kids.

Sat

Saturday

Sat 5 PM

Six years running: ten margarita samples, live music, and a Pavilion full of people making a Saturday of it. It's $49 and it's the kind of thing that's a lot more fun with a group. It's outdoors and Saturday's the storm day, so keep an eye on the sky -- but the Pavilion has cover.

Sat 2 PM

An all-day Grateful Dead tribute at the Barrelhouse, running 2 in the afternoon straight to midnight. Thirty dollars in advance, all ages, and safely indoors if the weather turns. The full-day, come-and-go answer for the Dead crowd.

Sat 10 AM

The market sets up on the Aquarium plaza, 10 to 5, free to wander -- makers, food, and the riverfront. An easy daytime option, and a good rain-or-shine backup with the plaza right there.

Sat 3 PM

An outdoor screening of Jaws out at Chester Frost -- a fun, free-spirited way to close out summer by the water, weather permitting. Bring blankets and check the forecast before you load the car.

Sun

Sunday

Sun 2:30 PM

The very last performance of the Theatre Centre's run, a Sunday matinee -- and a smart pick with storms likely all afternoon. Book through the Theatre Centre directly; it's the final chance to see this one.

That's the weekend.
